This year the British Council is looking to run a competition to identify and reward innovation in English language teaching in schools in Argentina. We wish to identify projects that are innovative, practical and effective, and can demonstrate successful implementation. Teachers submit their projects and accompanying evidence to the British Council by August, and a winner will be announced in September. The prize is an all expenses paid trip to attend the 2012 IATEFL Conference in the UK.

———————————

Every year we run a scholarship for teachers of English, the Hornby Scholarship, which is to study a one-year full-time Masters Degree in the UK. Below please find a link with more information on the scholarship.
http://www.britishcouncil.org/argentina-english-hornby_scholarships.htm

The deadline for applications is 21 February.

———————————

We have received a lot of positive feedback from Argentine teachers about our “Teaching English” website (a global online community for teachers of English from around the world). Please feel free to take a look at it.

Celia Zubiri, because of health reasons. Get well soon, Celia! Although Celia won’t be able to make her presentation “Drama a must in the English class”, the Buenos Aires Players (Celia’s company) will perform the plays “The New York Mice” and “Shakexperience”. Find information about the plays in the Buenos Aires Players’ website.

Michael Carrier. Here’s an extract of Michael’s e-mail: “… it is with regret and many apologies that I have to cancel my presentation at FAAPI. This is due to work issues requiring me to re-arrange my schedule for urgent internal reasons, and I won’t be able to come to FAAPI. Very sorry – I was so much looking for ward to coming back to FAAPI after several years of not being able to attend. I hope you’ll be understanding and forgive me so that I can return next year! Best wishes, Michael Carrier, British Council, London”

As much as we would like to have Michael here, we totally understand that he is a very busy person and this kind of schedule modifications are normal. So, Michael, let’s start talking about FAAPI 2011!
