Michael CARRIER
Michael Carrier is Head of English Language Innovation for The British Council, London. He has been involved in ELT for over 25 years as a teacher, trainer, author, school director and was CEO of IH World until 2008. He has worked in Germany, Italy, Poland, UK and the USA, lectured in many countries & written a number of textbooks. He is on the Board of EAQUALS and ELTJ.

Paul COOKSON
Paul Cookson was born in 1961 and brought up just outside in Lancashire. He qualified as a teacher and taught full-time for five years. In 1980 he published his first selection of poems and has now published over fifteen solo collections for both adults and children. As well as performing and leading workshops with pupils, Paul is also an experienced In Service Training speaker and has led workshops for adults in a variety of situations. He has appeared at various literature festivals – Cheltenham, Hay-on-Wye, Edinburgh, Swansea, NCBF, Greenbelt to name a few. Paul often works with David Harmer in the popular performance poetry duo Spill The Beans and has appeared on radio and television. This is his first visit to Argentina.

Leonor CORRADI
Leonor Corradi holds an MSc. in Education from Surrey University. She’s a lecturer in Didactics at Joaquin V Gonzalez and at IES en Lenguas Vivas. She’s a coordinator of state bilingual schools in the City of Buenos Aires, co-author of the Curriculum Design for Foreign Languages, presenter at national and international conferences, and ELT author. At present she’s teaching English to blind students as part of a project in Special Education.

MaryAnn CHRISTISON
MaryAnn Christison is a professor in the Department of Linguistics and the Urban Institute for Teacher Education at the University of Utah. She teaches courses in the M.A. and Ph.D. programs as well as courses for undergraduates preparing for work in U.S. public schools. She was TESOL President 1997-98 and serves on the Board of Trustees of The International Research Foundation (TIRF) for English Language Education. Her current research interests are in second language teacher education and her most recent books (co-authored with D. Murray) are entitled What Teachers Need to Know: Understanding Learning and What Teachers Need to Know: Facilitating Learning.

Merryl GOLDBERG
Merryl Goldberg Ed.D. is a Professor of Visual and Performing Arts at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) where she teaches courses on Arts & Learning, and Music and where she is founder and director of Center ARTES, a center dedicated to restoring arts to education through working with the SDCOE, arts partners, parents, and teachers. She has numerous publications including books, articles, chapters, editorials, and blogs. She is the recipient of numerous grants including a Federal Department of Education Innovation grant, a joint Spencer and John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur grant, Fulbright-Hays Foundation grants, and California Arts Council grants relating to her work with arts in the schools. Prior to entering academia, she recorded numerous CDs and was on the road for 13 years playing the saxophone with the Klezmer Conservatory Band.

Jeremy HARMER
Jeremy Harmer has taught in Mexico and the UK and is currently on the faculty for the MA TESOL at the New School University, New York. He has trained teachers and offered seminars all over the world. A writer of both course material and methodology, his titles include How to teach Writing (2004), the extensively revised second edition of How to Teach English (2007), and the prizewinning fourth edition of The Practice of English Language Teaching (2007)– all published by Pearson Education Ltd. He is the General Editor of the Longman ‘How to’ methodology list. He is a keen amateur musician and poetry performer.

Alan MALEY
From 1962-88, Alan worked for the British Council in Jugoslavia, Ghana, Italy, France, China and India. He was Director-General of the Bell Educational Trust in Cambridge from 1988-93 and then worked as Senior Fellow at NUS, Singapore until 1998. From 1999-2003 he set up and ran the graduate programme in ELT at Assumption University, Bangkok. He is currently Visiting Professor at Leeds Metropolitan University, UK, and a freelance writer and consultant. He has published over 40 books and numerous articles.

Adrian PALMER
Adrian Palmer teaches a variety of courses in applied linguistics at the University of Utah. His areas of specialization include language assessment, teacher training and professional development, and language teaching methodology, and he regularly offers a variety of workshops and presentations on these topics. Recent publications include Seeking the Heart of Teaching (University of Michigan Press), 2007 and Language Assessment in Practice (Oxford University Press), 2010.

Herbert PUCHTA
Herbert Puchta has a Ph.D. in ELT Pedagogy from the University of Graz, Austria, and is currently Professor of English at the Teacher Training University (Pädagogische Academy) in Graz. He has been a plenary speaker at a number of international conferences, and has conducted workshops and given seminars in Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Paraguay, and Uruguay. He has also worked as a speaker for the British Council and has contributed to several British Council Specialist Seminars.
Herbert is a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming. For almost two decades, he has carried out research into the practical application of findings from cognitive psychology to the teaching of English as a foreign language. Herbert has co-authored numerous course books for the teaching of English as a foreign language, as well as articles and resource books.

Silvia RETTAROLI

Greta VOLLMER
Dr. Greta Vollmer is Associate Professor of English and applied linguistics at Sonoma State University, where she teaches courses in English education, grammar, language acquisition and second language pedagogy.
Dr. Vollmer received her PhD from the University of California, Berkeley (2000), with a specialization in applied linguistics and second language acquisition. She also has an M.A. in TESOL (San Francisco State University) and an M.A. in French Literature & Linguistics (New York University).
Her previous teaching experiences include 10 years as a secondary level ESL teacher and five years of teaching non-native speaker composition courses at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests include second language composition, genre studies and visual literacy.
Dr. Vollmer has offered English language and pedagogy courses in Argentina, Hong Kong, China, Chile, Turkey and Italy. Published articles have addressed topics in immigrant education, second language writing and composition pedagogy. She has also presented papers at NCTE (National Council for Teachers of English), the National Writing Project, TESOL, American Educational Research Association, American Association of Applied Linguistics, and College Conference on Composition & Communication (CCCC).
